Italian restaurants, sub shops, calzone counters and Italian delis sit next to the pizzerias on this site because most of them bake pizza too, often from the same dough. Full-service Italian restaurants take reservations for dinner, add a tip line for table service (15-20% is customary) and usually run a cheaper lunch menu on weekdays. Sub and sandwich shops are counter-order and quick, with sizes by the inch or in half and whole lengths. Calzones and strombolis are priced like a medium pizza and are large enough to share. Italian delis and bakeries sell by weight and by the piece, and many close mid-afternoon.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Picasso's at (814) 866-1183; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, facebook.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 673 reviews, which is a strong result for a sub in Erie and suggests consistent service.
Erie is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Erie is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The art of food. Nice little sandwich shop. Unique and delicious sandwiches. Owner was very personable and explained their unique menu. I had a Botacelli and my wife had a starry night. We also enjoyed the tots and churros. Big sandwiches. Good prices. We will return in the future.

Came here from a recommendation and was immediately welcomed by the staff and atmosphere. Ray was an absolute delight, and he was super helpful in navigating the menu and new experience. The Mona Lisa was heavenly. The sandwich was beautifully light yet had a smooth balance of freshness and creaminess. The tots were especially awesome, and I enjoyed the hot pickle and cinnamon stix as well. Shout out to Ray again. Much love to this place

I took my daughter there for a quick lunch before bowling. What a delight. It was very hard to choose as I could see myself eating everything on the menu

My boyfriend and I traveled from Pittsburgh to Erie with a list of suggestions from an Erie Local. Picasso's was on that list along with many other AMAZING places. Picasso's was nothing less than delicious. There are many menu options, all very unique and specific to this establishment. When we walked in we were greeted by Ray – he was very helpful, attentive, informative, friendly and I really like his no bull attitude. He was straightforward in the best way & as someone who is indecisive & picky – I really appreciated the way he gave honest opinions & suggestions. Overall the experience was perfect! My boyfriend got the Mona Lisa with tots & I got the Donatello with mixed Mac (Alfredo and red sauce mixed together) and we both enjoyed the local cream soda! My boyfriend and I tried each other's meals and everything was BEYOND my expectations! The chipotle sauce for the tater tots was extremely tasty, the tater tots were perfectly crispy and weren't too salty, the sandwich's were both perfect & my boyfriend enjoyed the Mona Lisa so much that he actually got a Dante to take with us because the Mona Lisa was so good! Not only were we more than satisfied with the food, but Ray reall

TLDR version: Amazing gluten free lunch! Stopped into Picasso’s Sandwich Shop in Erie while visiting from Pittsburgh—found them online while searching for a solid gluten-free lunch option, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the “Mona Lisa,” and it was excellent. What really stood out, though, was the experience. The owner was at the front counter when I ordered and took the time to ask the right questions about my dietary restrictions (wheat, tomatoes, pork, and coconut oil). It never felt like a hassle—he genuinely wanted to make sure I had a great meal. Mission accomplished. Everything was spot on, and it’s clear they take both food quality and customer care seriously. I’ll be stopping in every time I’m in Erie. Thanks, Picasso’s!
